Help them recognize words that are difficult to sound out. Help them focus on reading comprehension more quickly.

Bright Idea - Sight Word Tic Tac Toe
Divide your class into two teams (Xs and Os), make a Tic Tac Toe board on a Post-it Sketch Pad or Easel Pad, and place Sight Words in all of the spaces. Have a student from each team approach one at a time and select a Sight Word. If the student pronounces the word correctly, he or she may remove the word and place either an X or O in the space. The process is repeated until one team wins.
